Square1 Internship Opportunities for High School Students Empower Your Future. Build Something Real. Square1 invites high school students to join a powerful learning experience that combines leadership, creativity, business, and community impact. Whether you're passionate about media, fashion, technology, or entrepreneurship, there's a place for you here. DETAILS: > Internships are up to 10 hours per week > Can run for a semester or more > Some roles are paid; others may qualify for service hours > Students working on startups may earn income or equity > Selection will not be based on grades, but rather on your spirit and initiative to change your own future and influence positive outcomes for others. > Top applicants will be invited to interview and discuss their interests, possible compensation, and mentorship opportunities.

Square1 Student Leadership Board

Students will have direct input in the activities and programs offered by Square1, working to improve the organization's overall impact. This includes creating and improving events, developing new programs that assist high and middle school students, and much more. Students will learn nonprofit leadership by participating in fundraising, strategy development, event planning, and technology development, among many other activities.

Summer Startups

Starting the week of June 15th, Square1 is inviting students interested in launching or growing their ideas/businesses to join a cohort and work toward this goal. We will meet weekly, online or in person, with speakers and mentors, identify the needs for your idea, and work toward acquiring them. 

If you don't have an idea, Square1 has several on the shelf that are ready to launch. We will work with you to find a match.

Small Business Consultant

Support local businesses with your knowledge in AI, marketing, web updates, and social media. Be part of a team that delivers real-world advice and support.

Square1 Marketing

This includes several roles that assist Square 1 with marketing, such as creating support materials for marketing programs and fundraising, creating videos, editing photos and graphics, and storytelling. Sharing this content on social media, in newsletters, press releases, and other media.

Custom T-Shirt Business

Design and sell custom t-shirts and apparel in partnership with a print-on-demand company. Market your creations and earn money from every sale.

Run a Startup with Square1

Start your own business or choose from a list of Square1 startup ideas. Play a leading role in launching and growing your venture—with potential ownership or income.

Event Planning

Assist in the organization of events. Work with other interns to promote events. Help identify venues and themes for events. Assist with event materials including programs, brochures, fundraising opportunities, and more. Assit in coordinating tickets, seating, RSVPs, and posting of events online and on social media.

Club Leader

Oversee and coordinate Entrepreneurship Club activities. Keep participating students motivated and working toward NEXT goals. Assist in coordinating visits with teachers/administration. Act as a host to any guest speakers by greeting them and aiding with their engagement in the classroom. Promote contest and activity participation.

Tutor

Must live in the greater Cincinnati area
Be a high school student in grades 9-12
Can commit to one hour of tutoring a week (either one 60-min or two 30-min sessions)
Can commit for a full semester (Fall or Spring)

Tutor Teens Lead Intern

As a Tutor Teens Lead Intern, you will help oversee the daily operations and impact of our free, teen-led virtual tutoring program. This role is ideal for a high school or early college student passionate about youth empowerment, education equity, and leadership. You will coordinate with student tutors, manage tutoring logistics, and ensure an excellent experience for both tutors and students.

Student Advocacy Nonprofit Roles

Square1 is taking over a nonprofit, the Council for Responsible Education, which promotes student engagement in local and state legislative activities, giving students a voice. Students will learn how to find, promote, and lobby for positive political change at the local school board, city, county, and statewide levels. 

Middle School Summer Camp Coaches

June 23rd, Square1 is hosting a middle school entrepreneurship camp from 9 am to 3 pm. Students will ideate, research, and create an elevator pitch. High school students will work with groups on all aspects of creating the elevator pitch.

For each position category, we may create a higher level leadership position to assist in coordinating all the interns in that area. Those leaders will be chosen based on qualifications, motivation or eagerness to lead, or simply performance in the role.

Top performing and engaged students may be chosen as Junior Board Members for Square1 assisting in the overall vision, goals, and future development of the NEXT program.
